Viognier is a grape variety, originally from the Rhône valley, which was nearly extinct in the mid 1980's. Its low yields make it less economically viable for planting at some vineyards but it has thrived here at Ricardelle de Lautrec, just a few miles from the Mediterranean coast.
This pure Viognier is light golden in colour with subtle hints of green. It has aromas of apricot, pineapple and white flowers. Full and rounded with a dry finish, it is a denser wine than its cousin the Chardonnay from the same producer.
It is ideal with fish in sauces, salads and white meat.
